Shooting times practical reloading

Re: Shooting times practical reloading

Just read it last night. I found it interesting he got 20 reloads out of Federal brass.
So many people tout Federal is the worst 308 brass to reload.

I always chukle about that one too. What's best for long life depends very much on how we load. Knowing what we want and understanding what provides it seems to be rare so mindless knee-jerk reactions often get posted as if it's wisdom of the ages.

Federal's cases do tend to be a bit softer than most but that allows them to be worked more cycles without splitting. Other brands tend to be harder and can take higher pressures without quickly expanding primer pockets but we pay for that additional hardness by earlier splits. So, which is 'best'? I've always liked Federal cases quite well but then I don't load real hot!
