I just got a 16" 6.5CM bolt gun put together. I was using H4350 for other 6.5CM and 260Rem builds, but they had 22" barrels.

Should I stick with H4350, look at Varget, or try something else?

Barrel has a 1:8 twist and I plan on shooting bullets weighing between 120 and 130 grains.

The best powder will be the best powder regardless of barrel length. Powder choice should be based on the chambering and bullet weight.

Here is the only quick load 6.5 creed I could find but its a heavy bullet and slow double base powder but it still makes my point. All the others will still operate on the same principal.

In 24" of barrel the bullet tops out at 2870 fps.
In 7" its going 2000 fps or 70% of all the speed potential it will get in the barrel.
The other 17" of barrel only get another 30% of the velocity.
At 16" the bullet is going ~2650 or ~90% of the total potential.

It would be awesome if someone could get a quicklaod screen shot of the 120-130 grain bullets with h4350 and varget to compare.
