Just had a few quick questions , wondering where i can get a proof carbon barrel in the 16-18 inch range.
i have an origin action and like doing things myself so barrel nut is fine with me.. Is that even an option with proof barrels?
Or can they make a pre fit shouldered barrel?

Proof doesn’t catalog Savage prefits in short lengths. Their small shank blanks are all much longer her than you’re looking for as well. That leaves you with doing a shouldered install. Any competent smith could do that for you.

They do have prefits, but i would stay away from them, my smith and several people here have had issues if them shooting.

i too am looking for a 16-18” blank in a 1.13(small shank) in.264 to make a great pack rifle.

When I asked, they said they were considering it, but no dice yet. Shouldered install is easy enough though.

I actually talked to them today as i headed to the range. Guy on the other end said i should call back in a couple weeks, as there MIGHT be a change in product line, might be something that works.

i want a 16-18” sendero lite, for my fix. 6.5cm. I want to have my smith spin it up, although he expressed he was not all that thrilled to do another shorty barrel, especially in carbon fiber. His lathe fits 20” barrels, anything shorter, he has to put an extension on it, so threading it twice. Costs more, more risk.

I would buy 2 if i could get exactly whst i want.
