I have a T5XI is there anything I could do to get a shorter parallax? Thinking about using it on a 22lr. It sits in the safe on a 308 that hardly ever gets shot.

Some guys are drilling a 1/2" hole in their front scope cap, then shoot with it closed of course.
Start out smaller than 1/2" and try that first because you can always go bigger.

It just makes the scope focus closer, the FOV is smaller and the image is not as clear or as focused as a scope designed for closer focusing.
It's the same as closing the aperture down on a camera lens. It increases the depth of field allowing a deeper focus range
I have always used the ocular cap, not the objective. Parallax is just not being correctly centered behind the reticle. A .25" hole in the cap ensures that you are straight behind the reticle. It's a good trick for learning and testing, but I don't think I'd want to have to shoot that way all the time.
I'd really only need it for match shooting at 25 , then flip my cap for 50 and beyond. It just sux to have a nice scope just wasting away. I have another T5XI on a 223 and it's my main rifle.
