what do you know about the reliability and ruggedness of the winchester 1400 semi auto 12 ga. The one i looked at was 18-20 in full choke.

I had one for a while. Nice gun. I did not have any functional failures while I had it. I had a field grade gun and shot skeet with it.

No different than a rifle .... it depends on what do you want to do with it. 1400s are fine, but I'd not likely buy a fixed choke shotgun. If it's priced right and you like it, then buy it.
