Shotgun Shell reloading ( machine choice Help)

i have a hornady 366 machine i bought for my brother....never used it. he took one look at it and said “i’ll stick with my MEC for the amount i shoot”. its been sitting here ever since. i dont know shit about shotshell loading other than i have a nice machine sitting there gathering dust.

I used a MEC for years... Grabber but they changed the model name I think . It's a Great press loaded tens of thousands of 12 guage rounds with it. I later inherited a Ponsness-Warren, and not too long after that, I quit trapshooting.

I would make you a helluva deal on the Ponsness-Warren if you were closer, but shipping would be a killer.

I started with a MEC 650 single stage and have now progressed to a MEC 9000 progressive. The MEC 9000 is a great machine but needs to be fiddled with every 300-400 rounds as things tend to work themselves slightly out of adjustment. You can find them for about 300-500 depending on age/condition as well as type of primer feeder (get the new one which is black plastic).

If you intend to shoot a shitload (250-500) a week, I would look into a spolar which is the Cadillac of shotgun reloading. Be prepared to drop $2k and that’s just for one gauge. Not really worth doing for 12ga since it’s so cheap but can kinda make sense if you start shooting subgauges.
