Should I get an adjustable stock?

I've been piecing together a build for a 6.5 CM. I have everything but the barrel. The barrel will be a proof carbon sendaro lite contour using a Bighorn TL3 and Manners MCS-T elite fill.

I'm either going to scope it with my NF ATACR 4-16 or Vortex AMG. I won't be using anything bigger than a 50mm objective with a 30mm tube. I put everything together the other day, I believe I'll have the right ring height with the NF (Murphy Precision lows), but my rings are probably too low for the Vortex (NF UL, I think lows).

I wanted to keep this build as light as I could, but I'm starting to wonder if I should have gotten a MCS-TA. With the current setup the eye box on the scopes wasn't too bad, but I feel like I was adjusting my cheek to fit the box at high power rather than keeping things normal. I think a stock pack would do it for the NF if my rings are indeed correct, but not sure for the vortex.

Has anyone pieced together something similar with stock, barrel contour, and scope that could give me some thoughts if I should ditch my stock and get an adjustable comb? I think I remember reading that it would add at most half a pound? Which isn't a total deal breaker.

Contact JDucos (Stock Doc). He can install a adjustable comb (KMW Loggerhead) in your stock and it will be no different than an MCS-TA. The additional weight will be negligible. You will not be disappointed.

I would start laying mouse pads or something on it and seeing how much exactly you need to build up. If its not crazy a triad stock pack could be a great option and save you some coin to boot.

I have a TA and love it but I also like my triad pack just as much.

If you plan to shoot different positions an adjustable comb is worth it's weight in gold.

I won't shoot a rifle without one any more. I have a narrow face and pretty high cheek bones. If I don't have an adjustable comb, my head is just floating up above the stock somewhere. A stock pack can help, but it feels like a bandaid in my situation.

I have the same problem, no matter how I like the "natural" look of a plain stock I've never been able to use one correctly without using a stock pad which I think it's a cheapo attachment to a nice stock like a a Manners or McM. Lesson learned and now all my stocks have adjustable comb.

You guys have talked me into it.

here's an unrelated question. This stock has the second gen dbm chassis. I'm going to use this rifle hunting a bit and thought I'd try the curtis customs mags that are somewhat flush.

without knowing where this rifle will balance That front lip on the bottom metal protrudes right about where I like to grab and carry my rifle. Anyone ever had theirs taken off? Any reason I would regret not having it there? I have the piece for a "barricade" stop.

I respectfully disagree with everyone who suggested you install an adjustable cheek on this rifle. You have clearly designed an ultralight rig, saving every possible ounce. Now when you are close to done you propose adding back 10%+ weight for the cheek?

I shoot rifles with the same basic design as yours. HTG, T3 and A1-3. For extra cheek height I use a stock pack and spacers made of 2" wide Velcro. I also glue one piece of the "hook" to the stock itself, which anchors the pack in place. Way less added weight, adjustable height, solid as hell.

Also, check out APA 34mm lows. iIRC the lowest 34mm made.
