How many thousandths are you guys bump'n your shoulders (at datum) on loads specific to one particular bolt rifle? I'm having a bit of headspace problem with a gun and I'm trying to chase down the cause. Rifle is a .243 savage w/ CBI 26" 1/8. I'm getting an ever so slight bulge on one side of the web above the case head measuring about .247/.248 after firing. The case head is showing a slight bright ring as well but I oh on one side. Loads have been 38, 39, 39.5 and 40 gr h4350 and 105amax. Case looks about the same with all loads. It appears to be working the hell out of my brass. Die is an RCBS. My measurements show I've been bump'n about 4/1000ths on these loads.
You think 4/1000th bump could be the culprit for my case web bulge? My 6.5 cm is perfect after 6 loads and I'm bump'n it 2 to 3/1000ths.
