Shouldn't my savage bbl be stainless?

Went to my LGS today to check out, sign for and start the 10 day waiting period (that we californians are subject to) for my new Savage LRP in 260 Rem. I was surprised to see the bbl was black and not stainless steel like it is on the Savage site and on Buds where I almost bought it from. What gives? Older model? Anything I should be wary of?

I wouldn't worry about it. I think Bud's is using the wrong picture if this is the rifle you ordered. There's a SS rifle pictured, but in the specifications it says the finish is matte black.

The Savage website also says matte black carbon steel but the the picture looks like stainless for the barrel.

A guy I shoot with just bought one in 6.5 Creedmoor, it's matte black. Rifle is very nice, shoots awsome, Savage makes a really nice rifle.

IIRC they're matte black SS on the LRP
