I’ve used rainier arms match or ultra match barrels in all of my ARs for the last 5ish years and have gotten great results.

Recently I had a 14.5 inch 223 barrel that was shooting fine and all of a sudden started keyholing with 55, 62, 69, 77 grain loads with less than 600 rounds thru it. This was an earlier build that was well outside the 90 day garantee but I figured I’d give them a call anyways and they told me to send it in for them to look. So I sent the barrel back and they took a look and sent me a new one the next day.

Recently I’ve been thinking about trying a Kreiger barrel in my next one but I’ll be going back to a Rainer arms ultramatch. They now have a customer for life. Just wanted to recognize them for standing behind their products and thank them for their customer service. If your thinking about using them or looking for a new AR barrel I’d recommend you give them a try.

So why did the barrel start key holing after only 600 rounds ?

Honestly I have no idea the only thing I could think is something messed up the rifling or the loads were underpowered to cause stability issues but since I was troubleshooting with factory stuff my only thought would be something with the rifleing. I have 8 other barrels from them, some with 2000 plus rounds and this was the first time.

glad to hear RA is doing good as usual. i used them a buying place when i first started getting into firearms. they had amazing supply and deals and were very cordial when calling or emailing them.

glad to hear that they accepted the barrel and even comped you a new one. like you said, a customer for life.

All the guys there are great.
When I was having a dilemma in choosing a new high end scope several years ago, they let me walk out the front door with about $10k in scopes and side by side compare them.
Any AR parts or even custom built bolt guns, they are a great place to start.
