Show and tell always seemed like a douchebaggy day for kids. As if the other kids in class give a shit what toys you play with at home.
I always had a shotgun behind the seat in my pickup, and sometimes a rifle to go call some coyotes or shoot some prairie dogs before and after school. There would have been an army of kids grabbing guns from behind their seats had some piece of shit tried to shoot up our school.
My friends and I used to joke about the Columbine shooting back in High School because pretty much everyone who had a car always had a rifle/shotgun in their car. You'd never see a school shooting happen there. 
Same, here. Hunting before and after school all the time. My dad had me beat though. He walked to school, and he and his classmates just stacked them up leaning in the corner of the classroom when they got to school, and picked them up on the way out (1940s, rural AL).
