Rifle Scopes SIDE FOCUS NOT WORKING

Leupold 3.5-10x40 Mark 4 LR/T 30mm
I was shooting the knob felt gritty.now NO adjustment at all
everything is in focus.you turn the side focus no change?

Sounds like you have placed it on auto pilot.

I had the same scope several years ago. Same issue. Focus knob didn't seem to change anything. I didn't keep it long after that.

Any chance you have the rings too tight? Back them out a little; see what happens?

Also check the set screws in the turret cap and make sure they didn't loosen up and just spin around on the dial.

The rings were to tight I backed them off.fixed it.

On a side note...
my friend had a huge Tasco custom shop scope on a 50 BMG that exhibited the same trait....
I lapped the rings in and it was fine (they weren't true)... FWIW,
