Sierra Reloading

Re: Sierra Reloading

What does your book say...damn.

People...no two weapons are the same, maybe similar but not the same. Pick a damn weight for what you want to shoot, whether it be paper or steel or hunting. Work up a load cause the load for my weapon may not be right for yours.

QUIT being so damn lazy.

He didn't ask for a load. He asked for the high/low. HMMM maybe to work up a load? Maybe he doesn't have access to a sierra manual? Maybe we should treat this like a shooting forum not a place for 5% of the members to bash on all the others when they ask a question that they don't like.

Just a thought

If the guy doesn't have a reloading book then he doesn't have any business reloading at all.

Maybe your right on the bashing part...but there is too much valuable info in the reloading books to not have one. If they are asking the high/low on a particular load then that means they don't really have a clue what they are doing.

I just get tired of these "wanna be cool kids" trying to cut corners...hell I'm surprised half don't ask us if we think they should take a shit or not and if so...should they wipe and with what kind of tp.

Re: Sierra Reloading

For the first question it's a 243 sorry I was tired last night when I posted. Mark thanks for being a man of reason. I am working up a load I have sEveral manuals. Sierra Sierra doesn't list there 95 g in there 5th addition or on line. Hogdens doesn't list sierra 95g.

Re: Sierra Reloading

My books do not list that exact bullet either. I would find some data as close as possible and reduce by 10% to work up.
As far as COAL I let the rifle determine where to start at.

You know when I started reloading 22lr(yes you read that right 22lr)in the mid 50's with my grandfather many said it could not be done. If Rabbit, Deer, Squirrel, an Pheasant could talk they'd tell you we did very will with those reloads w/o any books.

He actually did not ask for any load at all. I had a pretty good idea of what he wanted but I can't hand out data on pretty good ideas. I can understand your words of reason but I too have been very frustrated by some of the moronic questions in this section and lack of consulting the search function first. In Rebel Yell's defense it gets a bit like chinese water torture. Yes it is true that the Sierra 5th edition does not have data for this bullet weight but a little common sense goes a long way here. Use the data for 100gr bullets and work up from there, or compare the 90gr data and 100gr data and split the difference.
