I picked up a used sig 226 in 40 S&W -its very small -226 compact ?
it came with one mag -flush fitting
when I looked at buying another mag -grab a gun shows 10-12-15-20 round mags for the 226
will all these fit the compact 226 ?
obviously some will extend past bottom of mag well
but will they function ok -?

i don't know of any 226 compacts. they may have made a 226 carry but i don't see it listed on the website any more.
the 12 round mag is the flush fitting for the fullsize (factory) 15 is high capacity. the 20 is for the 9mm.
Are you sure its not a 229

my bad -it is a 229
it looks like the bottom of the mag is sunk in -to make it hold less rounds ?
can the mag bottom be changed out for more capacity ?

Yes there are adapters to add a couple rounds.
try:
topgunsupply.com they have quite a lot to offer for SIG parts and accessories

No, the sunk in base is for 10-round mags and the base is not interchangeable with regular capacity mags.

Your option for flush is 12 round and extended is 14 round for the 229 in 40. I would look at Mec-Gar mags as they are the manufacturer of the good Sig mags.
