I'm looking for a good scope mount or base for my pistol. I would like to use it hunting this season with a scope. Any of the mounts I have found are discontinued. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Re: sig hammerli trailside

Have you contacted these folks yet? They have a bunch of stuff for the Hammerli pistols, and I think if you call them or email they can get what you are looking for.

I have ordered parts from them twice and they were fast and spot on with the orders. http://www.larrysguns.com/

It is hard to beat the Leupold pistol scopes. They are rugged, reliable, will hold zero even on heavy-recoiling handguns, and the price isn't too bad for what you get. Whether you go with the Leupold fixed 2x, fixed 4x or a variable is your call.

I also like the Burris pistol scopes which are in approximately the same price range as the Leupy. Burris offers fixed 2x, 4x and several different variables, including a 1.5-4x that is pretty nice and gives you a little more flexibility with your optic on your pistol.

Just take a careful look at your pistol's size in comparison with any optic you are considering. The Leupolds run around 8.5" or so in length for the fixed power (same for the Burris scopes), but if you get into variables, you can get into an 11"+ long scope quickly which will: 1) feel like crap on a .22lr pistol; 2) could effect your accuracy with the pistol because of the feel; and 3) look odd too.

You should also consider the holographic sights which can be great for hunting as long as you don't need the magnification (and obviously depending on the max range you plan on using your Trailside). The holographic also gives you a sight that you can compete with on your pistol. I like the UltraDot Pan-A-V 4-reticle sight if you are considering going that route.

Re: sig hammerli trailside

thank you for somevery good info there. hadn't considered the overall length, I have the 6" barrel but do believe that might look a bit odd and leave the scope very vonerable to abuse.
Is this what you where refering to?

I had considered the burris fast fire 2 simply for the 50 yard parallax free. do you know the range on the ultradots parallax correction?

The reason I was looking to go with the leupy scope is because my uncle was telling me about a video he had called "how to shoot beyond belief" and the guild in the video uses a scope mounted 22 pistol on the range and claimed it was the best was to practice long range scope shooting. I guess in the video he was using a ruger pistol (not sure on the barrel length) and was making hits at 200 yards from a bench. thought it would be cool to try and see if it would pay off and would be nice for making head shots while tree rat hunting.

The link to Cal's you provided above is the UltraDot model I was referring to. If you shop around, I think you can beat Cal's price if that is the direction you decide to go. I got another one last year and seem to remember only paying around $150-155 for mine (take a look at MidwayUSA).

As for the parallax...it is 50m as well (like the Burris FF2). Here is a link to the mfg...they have more info on the Pan AV, including a copy of the manual, etc.:
