Sidearms & Scatterguns Sig P220ST

Re: Sig P220ST

I had one for a number of years, I loved the weight and feel of it. The only issue I saw was an extractor issue,FTE's, it seemed like SIG knew of the problem but never really corrected it. Do a search on the subject, I never had a problem with mine, granted I did not have a lot of rounds through it < 500, but my friend that had bought his at the same time I bought mine did with about the same round count, decided to get rid of mine before it did, good luck.

Re: Sig P220ST

Beautiful guns, all SS (and heavy). If it's complete, gun, mags...original case, literature etc. I would say GTG. If not, try to work them down a bit.

Re: Sig P220ST

Gun has everything original except literature. Has two fired cases in a sealed envelope, lock etc.
Just got back from the range. Had a problem with fail to feed several times. Found mag springs weak. Simple adjustment for now, but getting new springs soon. After the spring tweek, no more fails.

Re: Sig P220ST

If your gun has been shot enough to wear out the mag springs, go ahead and get a full P220 "parts kit" and replace all the springs in the kit (`$20). I just picked up a W.German roll marked P220 that was pretty worn out. A full parts kit and mag springs turned it into a brand new shooter. Great guns. If you're not sure how to change all the springs just search you tube for P220 or P226 video's. After watching a few I was able to strip mine down to the frame and rebuild it with zero issues. Have fun with the new pistol!

Re: Sig P220ST

I agree about the weight. Thats why I carry a Kahr CW9 in the summer. I can wear shorts and T shirt and no one knows its there.
I will probably get a Cross Breed super tuck holster for it anyway and see how keeping it concealed works in hot weather.

Re: Sig P220ST

328RII, I have had several P220's & have sold the others off & have kept the P220ST. I like the weight. Mine has been NP3 coated as well as the magazines. As a matter of fact I shot it tonight after work. I think that you will like. On a side note Turtle Sniper calls every once in a while. He is supposed to say hi to you & Nutt.

I toted a non-rail, old school alloy P229 day-in, day-out for a few years IWB back in the 90s. Alloy not only carries much lighter, but some of the ST models are harder to holster because of slight variations in the frame/slide.

Re: Sig P220ST

That sounds like a good deal.
The P220ST is being discontinued from SIG's line.

My all stainless P220 weights about the same as a full size 1911.
All that mass helps with recoil (also the twenty pound recoil spring) and I believe wear and tear will be less.

When I bought it I was looking for a 'service pistol' and it works.
