I will be geting the gun in a few months from an uncle. Its chambered in 300WM. There are some local ranges that go to 500-600yds. With decent glass, can this gun be accurate at that distance in stock form?

I have a buddy who hunts white tail with it. It is chambered in 6.5x55 Mauser and it shoots 1 MOA to 300 yds. Not bad for a $500 stock rifle.

His only complaint is finding replacement barrels. Once his barrel is shot out this thing very well could become a paper weight.

Thats good to know. I thought I saw some barrels on gun broker if your buddy is interested.

A competent gunsmith can thread the barrel extension with the locking lugs and fit a new barrel in that. It's done all the time on Sauer 200/202 barrels.
