I am inheriting a Sig SP2022 chambered in .40cal. I already have a modified G19 with RMR, comp, and weapon light. I am not too familiar with the SP2022 handgun, but it was purchased back in 2011. I believe it's the version without the loaded chamber indicator. I would like to convert it to 9mm with a threaded barrel to utilize with my Obsidian 45 suppressor.

Anyone here own a SP2022? It looks like parts and accessories are not widely available. I tried to find a threaded barrel that fits 1/2x28 piston to avoid spending another $80 from Rugged for a 13.5 LH piston. Also, I have only come across Trijicon P226/P220 suppressor sights. Will these fit the SP2022?

Not sure about the P2022, but normally you'd have to change the slide/bolt face as well. 40SW uses a slightly larger diameter cartridge, derived from the 10mm if I'm not mistaken.

Why not rock the Obsidian 45 with .40?

I can’t find a threaded barrel for the 40. Even Sig only sells a 9mm conversion barrel.

Sig has a habit of machining the barrel hole on the slide different sizes for 9 and 40 (not positive on the 2022, but they did for the 2340/2009). Make sure it is a conversion barrel and not just a 9mm barrel. The 2340 came out first in 40 then 357, followed by the 2009 in 9mm. The 2022 came out later in both calibers as am upgrade. Aftermarket stuff for the SIGPRO line is almost non existent.

I have seen other postings about people using the 9mm barrel without issues. Maybe I will just leave the handgun alone in terms of modifications. I was hoping for a dedicated pistol I could shoot suppressed, but then I would need a barrel, new piston, and suppressor sights which brings that to almost $400. That’s close to what that gun retails for brand new.

He has the .40 slide though, the 9mm LCI barrel should fit it. The lack of an LCI might be a problem, though.
"Replacement barrel for your SIGPRO 2022/2009. These are factory Sig Sauer drop-in barrels. Not for use in a 357SIG or .40S&W Slide. Note: Will fit SigPro's with the loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide. M13.5 X 1 LH Threads"

It does fit dimensionally, so it *should* function if the actual lack of an LCI isn't another problem in itself. Whether OP wants to dig deeper is up to him, just trying to think of options.
Yes it does fit in. The issue is the lci barrel diameter is narrower than the regular 9mm barrel (which has the same diameter as the 40) so will be loose in the slide (at the front end hole). You are correct, it is up to the OP to decide.
