Rifle Scopes sight height on balistic prog.

on these balistic programs for calculating bullet flight it asks for sight height. how important is this, why is it in there and how critical. .001 or half inch.

It doesn't make that much difference, but get it reasonably close.

I get 77.53" drop at 1.5" and 78.03" at 1.25" sight height 200 yd zero for an arbitrary 2800 fps muzzle velocity .308 at 600 yds.

If that makes any sense, a simple tape measure between barrel and scope centers will get you on.
