I am looking for a 6-24 range scope for a 308 build I am working on, I would like to keep the price around $800.00 for the scope, I want a second focal plane scope with matching MOA turrets and recticle. These are the two that I have it down too. Any recomendations. Thanks

Re: Sightron S3 or Vortex PST

Sightron doesn't have a matching reticle/adjustment scope yet. Not sure if they are making one in the future or not. The PST's are just starting to trickle out and so far, I haven't seen any reports of the SFP versions.

I have Vortex Vipers and they are great scopes. High quality with a fantastic warranty and company behind them. Sightron also receives high reviews and good praise. Give Scott at Liberty Optics, he offers both and is a Hide sponsor.

Re: Sightron S3 or Vortex PST

FWIW, I have two SIIIs (3.5-10) and they both have amazing glass and are 100% repeatable. I read the 6-24 SIII can have some issues with lateral changes can be limited at closer ranges as the reticle is near bottomed out (review on snipercentral). Makes sense and it doesn't appear to be an issue after making adjustments for longer distances.

I really want to hear what those who have received and used the new PSTs are finding out. If the glass is as good as the SIIIs and they work as well as I suspect the company is striving to acheive, it's going to be a very very popular scope. As for me, I'm standing by on future scope purchases till the new PSTs are run through testing by some of the shooters on this site to see what the reviews are on it. I think it has that much potential to wait and see.

If you like the .1 milradian turrets they have those also.

Re: Sightron S3 or Vortex PST

Wow! I stand corrected sir.

Those scopes look great! Man, if they can get those things out on time then that will really give the PST's a challenge. Very impressive that they listened to what people wanted and responded that quickly.

Looks like I have a whole new line of scopes to harass Scott with!

Re: Sightron S3 or Vortex PST

Hell, I might have to change my outstanding order as well. I requested one of the PST's in Dec. of 2009! Man, if Sightron can get one out of the pipe and have it work? I'm in!

Re: Sightron S3 or Vortex PST

I have the Sightron S3 6x24x50 LRMD and this thing is amazing. I'm probably selling the rifle and scope in order to build another rifle and I will definately put one of their new models on this rifle as well. I sold a loopy just so I could get this Sightron and have not regreted it. This scope is very clear both in normal and low light all the way up to high power.
From top to bottom there are 399 clicks. The mildot system seems to work very well. I have a friend that owns a Night Force and he looked through this scope and was very impressed as to how clear and crisp the optics are. If your looking for a high quality rifle scope then these Sightron scopes are the ticket. For the price you can not beat them, budget or no budget!!!!
