So I recently picked up a K&M neck turner with all the goodies off a hide member because I'd been eyeing one for a long time. However I had also recently been looking at the Sinclair set ups and now am wondering if I made the right decision to go with the K&M? This is might first go around with neck turning so I have no prior experience to compare or fall back on. and for the record the K&M I got is in great condition that's that's not my worry. So i am just wondering for those of you that have experience with either of these, why did you pick it and what are the pros and cons of it now that you are using it.

Re: Sinclair vs. K&M

I would keep the K&M, there donut cutting turning mandrels are the bomb, the Sinclair 4000 maybe easier to set up, and might be more comfortable in the hands, the K&M is a good solid unit with 100x the users.

Also do you think Its better to get the carbide cutter blade now or wait til the blade I have dulls out? I was told the I purchased only has around 70 cuts on it so it should have plenty of life in it, although it seems a bit tarnished on the finish as do some of the expanders probably from just not being used enough. it doesn't look like anything that will effect the performance more just cosmetic but since they are steel I assume it can only get worse. Is it OK to hit the expander mandrels and the cutter (not the cutting edge) with some fine steel wool to get remove this? One last question, should I use oil when neck turning and if so what type and how much.
Thanks
