How's it going guys?

Recently I swapped the original .308 barrel from my Remington 700 for a Mcrees Precision 6.5 Creedmoor Rem/age barrel.
After correctly installing the new barrel, and checking the head space about 20 times, I took it out to the range today.
Feeding the rounds by using the Magpul Pmag, I didn't run into any issues, but strangely when I started single feeding, the tip of the bullet got stuck against the breech 7 out of the 10 times. I was wondering if anybody else has ever ran into a similar problem.

Looking forward to your responses.

How did it single-feed before you switched the barrels?

This could be caused by the feed ramp of the receiver, or the fitment of the mag to the receiver, or the mag lips themselves, or a combination.

When you place the cartridge in the receiver, make sure it is all the way rearward (case head against the bolt face) and then try to feed it into the chamber with a steady smooth push. Sometimes if you go really slow that can give the cartridge a chance to level out before entering the chamber, thus causing it to hit the breech face.

Same, when I just lay one on top I always feel my seating depth control just goes out the window cuz I end up crashing the round into the breech. On my factory 700 I had to notch my feed ramp with a 1/4 inch die grinder. Tips of the bullets would get stuck under the feed ramp, this was in a Magpul hunter 700 with pmags, had this problem with factory ammo before I started reloading also. Might be something you ll have to think about maybe not

You need more neck tension if your bullets are that easy to push back into the case.

I haven’t actually measured to see if I’ve pushed any back, 3thou neck tension, I just feel if you crash any bullet ,regardless of neck tension, into the breech things are gonna move on ya

Probably not. You will damage the tip before you move the bullet, hence the reason seaters that push on the tip of pointy bullets destroy them during seating.

Tikkas are also known for this issue sometimes which is why they came out with the bob-sled. As mentioned above don’t just throw it into the action. Instead just start it a little into the chamber first and you’ll be fine.

One other reason I like my Howas. No matter where cartridge lands when I toss it into the receiver, it always feed fine. 308 or 223, P-Mags, MDT, or Alpha mags, makes no difference.
