So I’m in the process of a 338 edge build on a Remington 700 action.....If I do an internal box mag cost goes up do to stock options. As to where single shot I could use a chassis from krg or a magpul.

the rifle will primarily just be for long range target shooting. I might take it out west every now and then for elk.

my question single shot or internal mag and why?

Have one, built on a Borden action with Seekins bottom and it's my elk/moose/bou gun. If I did it again it would be single shot.
I've tweaked the mags for days and have never been happy. Maybe the internal is the answer.

Your gonna love hunting with that cal.

I already have the Remington 700 action though.
mom actually going to send it in to Shawn carlock at defensive edge. He made the round . Suggested either a McMillan or manners. To do an internal box mag.
I’ve considered a single shot as it opens up the possibility of chassis to be used with the action.
Plus it’ll be a bit cheaper.

I figure single shot is all you should need with the 338 edge.

I think you misunderstood, he’s saying he built a similar rifle and had issues, not telling you to change actions.

I would agree on your choice of smith. Shawn and I have discussed the mag issue at length and he didnt build my rifle. Wished he had.

The edge has no mercy when it hits....I'm a fan for sure.

If your going to use brass other than Rem start looking now!

He actually said the internal mag is the way to go if you want a mag. But I’m starting to rethink doing that. As people that have mags have feeding issues.
Like I said before in another post. I can’t see any animal taking more than 1 shot from the edge if placed properly.
