So people come on here all the time asking about tripods, I did some research and it was just overwhelming. I wanted something that would work in the prone though, so that narrowed it down a bit. I got the Sirui ET-1004 E10 tripod package, came with a bag and a tripod, ball head a long center post with hook and a short center post that can be threaded to the long one to make it longer, or used alone to make the tripod go down to 8". 4 leg extensions, locking. Rubber feet but I think the instructions say there are spikes under there. I haven't looked yet. One leg can be used as a monopod. Legs adjust super easy, ball head does too though it's one of the simplest ones. It works well for the application. It has a 8kg or 17.6lb. weight limit, which isn't anything to sneeze at, it was one of the tougher ones. At 17.6lbs, I assume this could probably be used with saddle mounts and some rifles. It's a solid tripod and not too heavy.

Cameraland is where I got it, they're an advertiser on here. They have a CF version, but I didn't wanna pay the premium. For the price of $137 shipped (I got it on sale with a discount but it's not much more expensive) it's hard to beat. They had another but it didn't go as low for $100 that they were clearing out. Good people, honest to deal with.

In the picture, I have the short post installed and it's actually extended up some so it'll go a couple inches longer. I have to move the LRF up because I didn't account for my noggin bumping into it in the prone. The longer center piece and bag aren't pictured, but you've seen black nylon bags with shoulder straps before and the other center piece is about a foot long, maybe a bit longer.

All in all, it's a very nice tripod, a nice piece of gear and it fits the bill. Very well made, very stable. Can't wait to take it all out and use it now.

very nice set up! i'm currently using Sirui N-3203X tripod with K-40X ball head, very happy with it and the quality is not bad at all (same if not better than the old manfrotto set up I got).

Thanks, I got hit with a surprise divorce over the holidays and long story short, things cost me more alone and I have to save for a new house. So I have to find even better deals than usual. Instead of the Spotter 60 I wanted to save for, I got the USO for $600 and instead of the PLRF-15C I got the LRR-104 Mk5 LRF for $400. Truth be told, I'd still like a nicer spotter, but I wouldn't trade my Mk5 for a PLRF or Terrapin, no way. That thing is a six mile+ work horse. But it makes an awesome field setup and the mount was made from SS by another member, that cost me some beer. Without it, there would have been no way to make that work. Solid 1/4" SS. All it needs now is a PVS14 adapter. I'll probably see if I can't make one on my own or see if someone here can. Should be super easy.

Oh yeah, Sirui makes a damn nice tripod. Manfrotto is common but Sirui is every bit as good, maybe better in some areas. It's like comparing GM to Chevy. Same thing really. I'm left with nothing to want for on the one I got, it goes in the prone and extends fairly high, can be extended with another center piece and holds all the weight and works in the prone. And it is SOLID. Sirui is just another high end European tripod maker.

I'm gonna have to figure the differences between it and the PIG compact because at the moment, I'm leaning towards just getting another one of these for shooting unless the PIG is somehow superior. We'll see. Won't be tomorrow or next week but someday.

I do know if I needed another tripod for a spotter or whatever I probably wouldn't look any farther than the one I got. Completely happy.

Last year I bought a used like new Sirui ET-1004 off of eBay for $100, and it was worth it. Used it in a number of matches and, for a bargain tripod, am very satisfied. I used the short center column and have no problems. Maybe someday I'll get a high end tripod but for now this is light years ahead of the small, wobble tripod I used previously.

Exactly. I have a Targus I got a Walmart for $27 and it's a POS. It holds up the chrono though and that's it's job. I put this mount on it and it couldn't do it, wanted to fall over. This Sirui is a hundred times better, it's not even a comparison. It's well made and I like that.

I've used Manfrotto tripods in the past. I'm currently using a Sirui N3203x with a RRS BH40. It's a killer setup. IMO, Sirui offers even better quality than Manfrotto for a great price.

I think if Sirui came with more shooting oriented items that it would be more popular. When I started looking, I started looking for Manfrotto. When I got serious about getting a tripod that suited my needs, I got this Sirui. 8"-60+", 17.6lbs, solid, easy to use, well made, great price. The best tripods for shooters that nobody mentions. It's like this thing was MADE for field use seated or in the prone.

I don't normally get excited about a damn tripod, but this thing is very nice for the price!
