So people come on here all the time asking about tripods, I did some research and it was just overwhelming. I wanted something that would work in the prone though, so that narrowed it down a bit. I got the Sirui ET-1004 E10 tripod package, came with a bag and a tripod, ball head a long center post with hook and a short center post that can be threaded to the long one to make it longer, or used alone to make the tripod go down to 8". 4 leg extensions, locking. Rubber feet but I think the instructions say there are spikes under there. I haven't looked yet. One leg can be used as a monopod. Legs adjust super easy, ball head does too though it's one of the simplest ones. It works well for the application. It has a 8kg or 17.6lb. weight limit, which isn't anything to sneeze at, it was one of the tougher ones. At 17.6lbs, I assume this could probably be used with saddle mounts and some rifles. It's a solid tripod and not too heavy.
Cameraland is where I got it, they're an advertiser on here. They have a CF version, but I didn't wanna pay the premium. For the price of $137 shipped (I got it on sale with a discount but it's not much more expensive) it's hard to beat. They had another but it didn't go as low for $100 that they were clearing out. Good people, honest to deal with.
In the picture, I have the short post installed and it's actually extended up some so it'll go a couple inches longer. I have to move the LRF up because I didn't account for my noggin bumping into it in the prone. The longer center piece and bag aren't pictured, but you've seen black nylon bags with shoulder straps before and the other center piece is about a foot long, maybe a bit longer.
All in all, it's a very nice tripod, a nice piece of gear and it fits the bill. Very well made, very stable. Can't wait to take it all out and use it now.
