Hello all, Im trying to get a sling put together for my SCAR, I want to use the HK hook style to mount to the available sling loops, problem the metal HK hooks scratch the shit out of the rifle its self and the loops are made of aluminum so those get all F#@!ed up too. I was wondering if there are a plastic like material or polymer type of HK sling hook. Thanks for any reply's.

Use Para Cord. Just tie a loop between them. It will work and not scratch the rifle. All the plastic I know for hooks would probably break.
Now if this is for more than a range gun and you are going to defend yourself with it, accept it will get scratched and use the steel hooks

If you are deployed with that rifle use the metal and be done with it. That is the strongest solution. If it's a range queen, polish it up real nice and just let it sit naturally on teh shooting table while you walk around offering comment on everyone else's rifles since shooting it will mar the bolt surface too

or just find another style of hook. i have only seen them in steel. there are plenty that arent stamped like the HK style with sharpish edges

Or dip your HK hooks in the rubbery tool handle stuff they sell at hardware stores......

^^ wow thanks for the reply's everyone, sorry its the 4th and I wasn't near my computer.. Im not deployed with it, and I dont really care for scratches but the loops get gouged pretty bad with metal hooks.

You can dip the hooks in rubber all you want, but as soon as you pick it up to use it and you have metal on metal friction, all your rubber will be gone.
Also, if you find some plastic buckles they're going to get eaten up with the rubbing against the metal loops on the rifle and fail on you when you least expect it.
You could do the 550 trick, but personally I think it looks like crap.
You'll be better off just putting a quality sling with HK Hooks on the rifle and run it without worrying about some minor scuffing around the hooks.

Have not tried it yet but I plan on replacing my HK hooks with these. They allow alot more articulation without binding up.

They're still going to scratch the finish of the attachment point on the rifle.

Any metal hook will scratch. As said the rubber coating wont work.
The Mash hooks scratch as well. Mash hooks are nice of single point set ups but I still prefer HK style. The para cord as said before looks like crap but keeps hooks from scratching.
You can wrap hook in 100mph tape to keep scratching to just the part the hook has tension on but it will still scratch.
Like said before its a weapon. If you are training to use for protection get used to scratches. Work weapons versus show off weapons.

It doesn't matter if it's Titanium on stainless steel, the paint will be scratched off. The steel of the HK Hook will scratch the Aluminum of the loop.
If you try to slide gas line, or plastic tubing over the HK Hook you're going to have big problems with the hook staying closed.
About the only thing you can do is have a piece of elastic sewn into a tube and slide it down over the hook to keep the hook from coming in contact with your rifle.

hand and go in to a home center like Lowes. They have some
heavy duty clear tubing which is not that thick but
works well as long as you get a tight fit. I had to heat mine up with
a blow dryer to get the tubing to slip over.
