New user, first post. Howdy.

Setting up a new Steyr Scout rifle. Don't know what the general consensus here regarding the Scout system is, but I like it so far.

Anyway, it is also my first time using a proper shooting sling. I have a Ching sling. If you're familiar with the Steyr rifle, the fore swivel is on the bottom, and the middle and butt swivels are on the left side of the stock.

I've been doing research, but I have an issue that I can't find much information about. The rifle shoots nice tight groups POA using a rest. With s sling, the groups are still well proportioned (no stringing) but they are about at 10 O'clock and 2-3" from POA. I've read that an improper set-up with NPOA discrepancy can cause stringing, but I'm not sure that's my issue.

Anybody have any input? Sling too tight, poor sling technique? Keep in mind that I've been shooting for 30+ years, but this is my first attempt with a sling, etc. My "training" so far is reading "Art of the Rifle" and lurking here.

Re: Sling Question

sling is pulling on the stock. I can pull hard enough on the sling I had on a .22 for training that it could pull POI off almost 1 1/2 inches at 50 yards. Cure is less one or more of the following. Less tension on the sling
better stock that does not "flex" as much.
stop using the sling
adjust point of aim to compensate for deviation

I don't think so.
