    Dudes,

I just wanted to take the time real quick to highlight Todd at SLR Rifleworks for providing some of the best customer service I have come across in a very long time. I ordered one of their Sentry 8 Clamp on gas blocks to help remedy the issues I have been having with my MaTen build relating to it being overgassed. I installed it last night and took it out to the range today to tune it. About 7 rounds in, the gas ended up blowing the leaf spring detent mechanism out, thus ending my day at the range. I emailed Todd about the issue with a request for repair parts. About 30 minutes later, he called me directly and gave me the skinny on why it happened (an apparent trend item on their previous version that they have since remedied), then told me that he would be sending me the new and improved version of the gas block AND would be sending me the repair parts for the one I have on the rifle right now at no extra charge.

I have to say, I was absolutely blown away. Customer service like this is hard to come by in this day and age. I will continue to bring my business to SLR Rifleworks and I would direct you all to do the same. Thanks again Todd, you guys kick ass!

Interesting, just found out about these guys and their gas block seems better designed than the JP I'm running now.

Now a story about good customer service, excellent

Same situation for me a couple days ago, I had the older design Series 7 adj block as well and while testing my 300BLK the side plate blew and Todd was quick to respond and has my new one shipped already. I had an issue with one of his rails not working for what I needed, no fault of the rail, it was awesome so I asked if I could trade it for a different rail for another build. No problem at all! Right now I am dealing with Samson on some issues with their rail and they are not nearly as easy to deal with :(. This kind of customer service will have me as a repeat customer and recommending SLR to others for a long time to come!

I bought a Sentry 9 clamp on about two months ago to replace the JP adjustable block I had previously installed on my 308. Took the rifle to range yesterday for the first time to tune the block. Im very impressed with it. Only four rounds to get it adjusted properly. No more constant tinkering with the JP screw that refused to stay in one position even with a small amount of locktite. No more FTEs. No more destroying expensive brass. Love it. I will be replacing the JP block on another rifle I own with a SLR in the very near future.

A while back I broke the detent screw on a DA7-C I was disassembling to Cerakote (getting in a hurry and not first heating the thread locking compound; that screw isn't too strong). I sent SLR an email asking if I could buy a couple of screws and Todd insisted on sending me a new block with two detent screws and a dab of locking compound, plus detailed instructions. I called to try to pay for a new block and they wouldn't take anything. That blew me away. And the block? It's been great.

Ive been very very impressed with SLRs service so far. Bought a SL9 and a 16.5" Solo handguard from them and not only did they give me the military discount I had the parts in hand in 3 days. The machine work is flawless and assembly was quick and easy. Cant wait to buy another of these handguards for my other rifle.

As the owner of 3 of their early Sentry 9 models I have to ask... what was the design change?

Based on the new pictures on their webpage it appears the leaf spring is now larger on the retaining screw side, did they do that to leave more material on the leaf spring where the screw passes through to more solidly capture the leaf spring?

Haven't had an issue with my 3 yet but it would suck to head out for a day of shooting only to have it fail.

Are the repair parts Todd sent you for the old models upgraded as well or are they just same-design replacements for the ones that were lost when it failed? Doesn't look like the original style blocks can fit the new stouter leaf spring.

I am in the same boat and would like to know the same thing.

Based off of what Todd told me over the phone, they changed the shape of the spring. If I remember correctly, he also stated that they changed the metal used and put a different bend in the spring as well.

As far as the replacement parts go, I am unsure as to whether they are of the old or new design. I will report back some time this week when they come in.

I tried one of the Sentry blocks and liked it so much I bought three more and installed them on all my ARs (.260, .223, .308). Haven't had any problems, but if I do, it sounds as though Todd will take care of it.

Just purchased a Sentry 7 clamp nitride to help with an over gassed new build. Waiting on delivery but from everything I've read I should be very satisfied.

I'm going to the SLR for all my adjustable gas block needs.

I agree that Todd is great to work with, too, who puts his customer's needs first.

Just installed an S7 clamp on on my Ruger SFAR (factory adj gas block was either over or under gassed).
Was able to tune it to run perfectly.
Question: Do y’all close it all the way when cleaning the rifle? Do you lubricate the adjustment screw? Do you disassemble it to clean? If so, how do you disassemble it?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Ya.. SLR has good CS. only few weeks back lost gas for proper Bolt function, tore off handguard and Leaf Spring was busted and Gas Plug gone .
Calling them on the Phone is a lost cause, but Emails are good for quick same day response . I wanted to pay for parts for rebuild of ( well used ) 6 year old Adj. Block . He would not take payment and shipped me a baggie with several new Leafs and Plugs that were out to me in couple days.

Ya . I always close to run patches and wet solvent .
Block that I broke Leaf on . I NEVER even cleaned it for few years till I changed out barrels . Tore it all down, and I was surprised when I did clean it . Really was nothing much for any bad carbon buildup on the Adj. screw . threw block and parts in some Hoppies for about 1/2 hours and small brass brush for minute.. blew it all out with compressor.. it was clean. Threw back on the new barrel and ran it again.

I like SLR just on the fact that it a simple design with minimal parts involved. Remove the little screw holding in the leaf spring and gas plug. unscrew the adjustment screw out of it's port hole in Block, and that's it.

I've had good luck with SLR. I'm a set it and forget it guy, and seized it up as you'd expect. I got it loose but broke the adjustment screw. Emailed SLR to buy a screw and they immediately insisted on sending a new block.
Years later that block is seized up, stripped out the screw this time. Tried to buy hardware and again was sent a new block.
So I bought one AGB and got 3 out of it.
