Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 ---> RESULTS BELOW!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Actually if you land the little bullet within the smiley it would count as a wipeout as well

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

My 1 good one is on its way back to PA . Great fun , I shot a real good one on #3 but took 2 confidence shots . OOHHH well . soldier on .

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Uff Da(Norwegian for dammit). I hit the harder shots and whiff the easy ones. Oh well, there's always next time.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Target on it's way back tomorrow. This was a lot of fun to shoot, and it generated a fair amount of talk at the range over two days about what the heck I was shooting at. I think there will be some more people getting "smiley" on the next go around in the Fall.

I am sure I was like a lot of people and got 4 targets. If I could take something from each one of them and put it together into one target, I would have nailed everything, but.... getting it all together on one single target just did not happen, but again - a whole lot of fun to shoot.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Good to see learning is still happening

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

The force was not with me this time around. Score's not going to be anywhere near my Spring entry. Ah well, fun was still had amongst the frustration.

Target mailed out this afternoon Jason.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Talk about pissed. I shot my second rimfire target and shot the best 3 shot group of my life measuring .205" outside to outside with my Marlin 17HMR and blew the rest of the target. That's about .02 CTC group. Luckily I had a better over all target from a previous day with different ammo that had more hits and a bigger yet tolerable group. We won't even talk about the shotgun spread on the CF target
whistle.gif
. Oh well, lottery tickets inbound today.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Crapola. We got our targets shot this weekend, but I ended up having to work WAY LATE today. Is today the postal deadline for this goround?? I sure hope not!!

DK

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

I dont know, I finally got a chance to shoot mine today, Ill send it in tomorrow. If its allowed cool, if not, well I shot pretty crappily and will try again next time.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

I think the postmark deadline was the 23rd!!! Oops, maybe next time.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

The site just said to send your completed targets back the 23rd. So I am not exactly sure if that is the deadline or not.

DK

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Your right did not see that. Well I wonder if that means he needs the targets by the 23rd or postmarked by the 23rd??? Either way those who have not sent theirs in (YOUR LATE) LOL. Good luck guys. Mine were not great but sure was fun as always.

Jake

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Hey guys, everything is a postmark deadline...

JB

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

I think my wife beat me again. Either I am going to have to practice some more or she is going to have to get her own stuff.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

It looks like there are a lot of competitors this time around. Should be a great contest.

I am excited to see which of my targets made it. I had one where the confidence shot was too close for me to call... the shot was on top of another shot that edged the smiley. I'll make Jason decide on that one.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Well, I got my targets dropped late in the afternoon of the 23rd, but I don't know if it got the postmark by then. Crapola again...

DK

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

DK, I think you will be fine. How did they turn out this time around???

Carter, I think I did that last time too. I could not make the call becuase it was so close to the line it could have went either way. Smart choice letting JB take care of it. He is alway fair.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

got them in at the last min had to shoot in some nasty conditions out here. worst targets Ive ever sent. but the worst time shooting for the ASA is still one great day...

Thanks JB for all the work.....

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

scoring now...gotta wait for a few stragglers to show...hope to have results up mid week

JB

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Thanks to work... all we got was a bunch of "0"'s... dangit!!

The laser accurate days of the Savage/Ultramax have played themselves out it seems. I am into another lot of that ammo, and the results are nothing like they have been. I am still getting sub-MOA out of them, but nothing that is gonna put any shooters here in any danger for sure.

As far as my target goes, I choked the confidence shot. Kinda frustrating. I used to be really confident shooting at the 30 dot, but I even screwed up the 25 dot this time around. I wasn't very happy about that part for sure. The rest of the target definately wasn't the worst target I have ever sent in, but isn't any trophy either. The shots felt really good, but the results don't show it. Hopefully, I will be getting into a new Savage 10PC soon, so we will see how that one works out. I really wish I never sold my 10FP now, but that is how it goes.

We did have a few bright spots this time around. My boy Zach took his turn shooting the .308, since his brother shot it last year. I believe his 3-shot group was around 7/8" or so. He was pretty happy about it, so I think he will be shooting the .308 from now on with the rest of us. Also, I can tell you that this time I DID NOT SHOOT A "ZERO" SCORE for my rimfire target!! This is one of the best rimfire targets I have thrown lead towards.

I am just hoping that the post office got it tagged for the correct date, but it was kinda late in the day. The time shows the last pickup is 4pm, and I made it there and dropped my envelope at 3:57pm by my watch. So we will see how it turns out.

With the Summer match, we raised another $339 for AmericanSnipers.org!! That puts the total at over $6800 raised from the Smack the Smiley Match!

Competition was tough as usual. You gotta nail everything to get near the top 3! 200 didn't even get you in the top 10 in CENTERFIRE or top 15 in RIMFIRE this time! WOW!

Not as many small groups as last time but a lot of good scores....and did I mention that the same 2 shooters who won the Spring match won the Summer match??

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Nice shooting, Big Tuna! That makes twice that I am your bridesmaid! Hopefully, I will make bride one of these days. If you keep it up, you will shatter the record for yearly aggregate!

Also, great shooting JCVibby!

Thanks for putting this on again, JB! It was fun as usual.

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Dang I wish I knew about this before. Looks like a lot of fun. You can count me in on this up coming fall match!

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

wow - this was the first time I had entered and I had a great time with it. Now to win a new Manners stock out of it too... that is just icing on the cake (of course I guess I need to go shopping for another new rifle now).

I just bought a Sako Quad in a Manners stock 2 weeks ago, so I will be ready for the rimfire comp. too on the Fall match, I am hooked
wink.gif

Congrats to the winners and thanks to the vendors for all the prize donations

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Shoot yeah!! Congrats to the winners... and everyone that plays is a winner here!!

No, I am not saying that meaning the shooting sports are watered down like all the other sports that are suffering from the "All are winners" crap.

Seriously, I really enjoy shooting this competition. I learn alot, I can teach my family alot, and we are all having an awesome time!! Thanks JB once again for all you do!!

DK

Re: Smack the SMILEY Summer 2010 - ENTRY OPEN

Congrats to the winners! Excellent shooting to all. I didn't do much better then last season, but at least I didn't come out empty handed!
