Small varmint kills (the bastards!)

I like to think that's not a stock image and 2,015 gophers is an average afternoon for you.

You can't really tell but that used to be a muskrat. Hadn't shot my 6.5 in like two weeks so I used it instead of the .22.

Someone's dog got quilled while they visiting last week so I have been on the lookout for these guys. I heard the weirdest sound, like a cross between jackrabbit distress and bird squawking and then saw this monster.

I was out about an hour before sunrise and got 2 more skunks. That’s 35 for the year on my 80 acres. I use an AR15 with a 20” 204 barrel and a Dnt hydra 640 thermal. I have 13 coyotes so far this year on my land. I have not seen any coyotes for 5 weeks but the skunks just keep coming. Coyotes should move back in before long.

35 seems to be a LOT of skunks! I got one last fall and the hardwood bottom I shot it in smelled like the upstairs of a frat house after a football game weekend for what seemed like a month

I pick them up and haul them to the far end a half mile away. When the wind is wrong the smell is bad at the house otherwise. It’s a lot of skunks but 13 is really a lot of coyotes on 80 acres. Several years ago we had skunks under our house and trapped 13 before we got rid of them.
