SMK 175 Grain HPBTs out of the Rem. 700 SPS Tac.

I know a lot of people on here have the Rem 700 SPS Tacticals.
My questions is do they like the SMK 175 Grain HPBTs.
Im just about done with my first build and i need to get a good load for it.

I'm not sure I get how a Rem 700 SPS ties to "I'm about done with my first build", but as to a Rem 700 (presumably in 308 with 1:12 twist)... yes. Widely utilized.

I know my 700p loves um. The G spot for my gun seems to be 44g of varget and 175g smk (this is my 1k yd load)comercial brass,wlr primer. Try several powders and find what yours likes

I have a SPS tactical (20in barrel), stock has been changed to a HS varmint. My load for that rifle is Federal gold medal brass, Fed 210M primer, 42.0 grs of Varget, and 175 SMK. It shoots that load at about half MOA.

I do get better 100yd groups with 168Amax and RE15, but wanted to keep the components the same as my other bolt 308's.

I have the SPS Varmint and I've had great luck with the 168 AMAX. I'm loading some 175 SMKs to try this weekend. I'm trying to work up a load for a class at RO.

Hodgdon's website says a starting load is 42 gr of Varget and a max load is 45.

I started at 40 and went up every .2 to try it out.
