Smoke & Mirrors Rolls Along

Not what I'm talking about.
You're reference refers to here at home.

Yep, I was referring to things right here in the States, with the schools in Denver being locked down due to an armed nutter on the loose there. This and the cathedral fire across the pond...bad timing.

I only care about here.
I'm close to the point of not caring about anywhere here,... save where I'm standing,... at all. There are even parts of this state that could burn to the ground an I'd only show up to help if my fire fighting gear was filled with gasoline. There are bad days ahead an past (an some present)so called leadership is fueling the coming fires, over money/power.
Interesting to look at how this forum has changed from days of old. Also interesting to see what has become the norm,....

My Betamax tapes will still play! I still have the 30-tape full episode set of Mama's Family that I bought accidentally on eBay while drinking. Never drink and eBay!

Cheers,

Sirhr

I look forward to an single EMP or 20,... best why I know of to drag this rock back to reality. When we stopped talking to people passing by from the pouch, it all started down hill. Now we text kin just down the hall, or one room away,...

Worse. I sat in a restaurant the other day and watched to kids on a date, sitting across the table from each other, texting each other.

If you were here we could hear the words better over some half ass cell phone B/S, or mess spilled words. However most importantly, read the eyes an body language to see if it matched the words,...

That is pretty funny. My wife was at a school event last night and I had my 3 kids. We went out to eat as I didn't feel like cooking. The restaurant we go to was busy. There were 4 families in tables next to us. Each had a couple or more kids. EVERYONE at every table was looking at their phone or had their phone next to their place.

Go to a bar...virtually any bar. How many people still interact versus sit and stare....

Fucking nuts. How can you relate to each other when this is the new normal?

That is something that many folks don't get anymore.
Non spoken clues in regular conversation, account for a large part of the meaning of things, especially in a language like English where the same sentence could be taken to mean many different things depending on tones of speech, body language, eye movements.

Back a long time ago I used to do Paragraph Roleplay online & it was rather tedious to have to write out all the different body language and tone things for what someone would just say and act in a normal conversation, as if you didn't do that, you might have wildly different interpretations of what your character said.

Also of course, in real life, half the time you can answer or convey quite a lot of information without words at all, just with body language, your eyes, your breathing, gestures etc.

Most people don't even comprehend the word "inflection" let along understand it and/or have the ability to define it.

Which says pretty-much EVERYTHING.

And to make things harder, usually the ones who DO know about it, keep quiet. Much to that, right there.

Perhaps this could be a good excuse to nuke some communists finally.

You know, if Trump has any balls left and the Communists attack Taiwan in earnest, and we decide to honour our commitments to defend them, and the Chinese directly attack our assets in reply.

If you are an adult and have been eating Iodized salt your whole life, you probably won't need them as much, save them for the kids unless you happen to be where it's really bad.
What about the prevalence of "Sea Salt" and its many varied applications? Are people aware of this? Let alone all the other 'fancy' salts that have different 'mineral' flavors simply because they weren't purified and iodized.

Unless it's specifically added, salt doesn't contain iodine.

I have done iodized salt my whole life (one specific brand actually). It's kind of a cultural thing from when cities were dark and dreary and they added iodine to the salt and cod liver oil to the bread to make sure the kids didn't grow up deformed.

As I understand it, the basic danger is that one of the contaminates from nuclear incidents is something that your body thinks is the normal food grade iodine that your body needs to get in order to function, so if you are deficient, your Thyroid gobbles it up and then you have a higher risk of Thyroid cancer getting you 20 years later.

If you are an adult, you have to determine if you'll be dead long before the cancer can get to you, and also is your body already stocked with lots of iodine from either diet or iodized salt, if so a bit more iodine in tablets won't hurt (just don't like go way overboard). But who actually needs it more is children who have longer to go before a normal death & require more of it due to growth and may not have as much stocked up in their bodies at that time.

However overall the fears of nuclear stuff are way overblown by alarmists of the Communist bent as well as their SJW Earth worshiping buddies.

Something to think about is that when Chernobyl went up, most of Europe got way more of a dose of stuff than anyone including all the western governments ever allowed to be put out. Overall however the population as a whole didn't see a big problem.

Also back in the 50s and 60s there was so much atomic testing going on by everybody, above ground, underground, underwater, in the air that well everything and everyone pretty much now has detectable amounts of radioactivity in it.

The Japanese got way more dosed as an entire country recently than most want to admit, and while I'm sure they may have some issues, overall they will be just fine for the most part.
