Also back in the 50s and 60s there was so much atomic testing going on by everybody, above ground, underground, underwater, in the air that well everything and everyone pretty much now has detectable amounts of radioactivity in it.

That is why there is such a big market for salvaging ships that were made before Hiroshima etc events. The steel is valuable for scientific purposes.

Something to think about is that when Chernobyl went up, most of Europe got way more of a dose of stuff than anyone including all the western governments ever allowed to be put out. Overall however the population as a whole didn't see a big problem.

I'm close to the point of not caring about anywhere here,... save where I'm standing,... at all. There are even parts of this state that could burn to the ground an I'd only show up to help if my fire fighting gear was filled with gasoline. There are bad days ahead an past (an some present)so called leadership is fueling the coming fires, over money/power.

If you are an adult and have been eating Iodized salt your whole life, you probably won't need them as much, save them for the kids unless you happen to be where it's really bad.

Actually thats a myth. Iodized salt is a terrible delivery mechanism for iodine. The human body's need for iodine is magnitudes higher than what the RDA is set at. The RDA is really just the minimum to prevent goiter but not enough for our endocrine system to function correctly. What makes it worse is our constant bombardment by other halides (fluoride and bromide/bromine) block the receptor sites we need for iodine uptake. Its a modern health crisis few are aware of. One of the best things I ever did for my health was start using Lugols iodine drops daily and limit my intake of fluoride and bromide both. You will be shocked how many things have the toxic halides added- everything from the mattress you sleep on to OTC medications, the breads you eat, etc. etc.

If you are interested there are several good book on the topic- Dr David Brownstein is probably the most notable and has some Youtube videos as well. And yes- you can most certainly take a larger dose if exposed to radiation. Once you learn how to treat things with iodine its actually one of the more versatile supplies in a SHTF type medical kit. There is a reason back in the day of the apothecary- more iodine was sold than all other substances combined. In this day of antibiotic resistant bugs, it may make a comeback although as it cant be patented and profited upon, perhaps not.
