Sniper Challenge Secondary Shooter Optic

So I'm planning on doing one of the sniper challenge matches next year. Either Mammoth, TTG, Blue Steel, etc. And on all of these the secondary shooter has to have a .223 or .308 rifle and one of the shooters has to have a max 10x optic on his rifle.

I'm putting together a mk11 in 308 for a buddy doing it with me. What would be a good optic to use? I'm shooting my 25 creed jp rifle with a xtr pro. For him i was considering a USO FDN FX10 with the horus 425 reticle. Some people say the vortex 1-10x but i hear issues past 6-7x with those. Any other good optics to consider?

There are limited options that meet the requirements. Below is from my experience and what I see at matches. I suggest staying away from LPVOs. They will work, but you'll live in the higher range of magnification, where these scopes come with drawbacks like tight eyeboxes.

High

• ZCO 2-10 - cant go wrong here.

Mid

• Mk5 2-10 - CMR-MIL is best. TMR will work can be found at reasonable prices used.
• NXS - 2.5-10 - Con its SFP, but you'll rarely shoot below 10x, so not a big factor and you won't be off plate 200 yards in where you may be under 10x
• Mk4HD 2.5-10 - limited to the TMR
• Trijicon Credo 2-10 FFP

Low

• Vortex Viper PST Gen II 2-10 -
• SwampFox Warhorse 2-10 - I picked one up to try out, and it seems to be a good option until you can move to an Mk5 or higher. It's on the heavy side.

Mammoth secondary shooter does not have an optic limitation if you’re leaning that way.

Shooting a number of this type match I am using an NXS 2.5-10x42…it gets the job done.

You won’t find one because they don’t make them anymore but the Eotech Vudu 2-10 with H59 is/was awesome…
