So are Federal 210 and 210M the same thing?

Running low on 210s after having somewhere around 20k of them as well as several 6.5/308 loads based on them.

I've read that the 210M is the exact same everything as the 210 but is simply controlled to be more consistent from primer to primer.

    How true is this?

I have heard and read the same thing regarding the CCI BR-2, additional QC and steps taken during manufacture.
The guy missing an eye and with shaky hands assembles the one line and another with full cognitive skills and good vision assembles the other. ?

Some of it may be gimmick but there have been alot of primer tests that show bias towards the match primers for consistency.

I have been switching everything I possibly can to small primer CCI-450 and have no complaints with accuracy over the BR-4.

Saw a video on the process and they explained the techs with the most consistent work product are chosen to work on the match products. Interesting watching them stand in water while they spread the primer compound over the cups by hand with a tool.

Been using match Federal in both large and small rifle for a couple decades. I can't prove they help but figure it's one more piece of the puzzle.

My magneto and group sizes can't tell a damn bit of difference between the two.

I've run 205 and 205Ms back to back and mixed over a chrono. Zero difference in my SD/ES with varget and rl15. If Ms are on the shelf, I buy them like a good little lemming but if all they have is standard 205s or 210s they go home with me if I need them.

I have always liked the 210M and prefer to use them in my 308 loads and still have a small stash. But they are scarce and I have tried other primers lately.

I started load development for my 6 CM with 210M and while they did pretty well I recently tried CCI-34's and I'm getting more consistent results. Go figure. I also remember reading an article in Precision Shooting magazine years ago where he started with Fed but wound up with better results with Win WLR.

My takeaway is don't just assume that since the box says Match that it's the best choice for you. I'm willing to try other primers and sometimes I'm surprised by the results.
