So I think I found my accuracy problem ...

Lately I have been having some accuracy issues while working up a new load for my barrel. It didn't matter what powder/bullet combo, the same load would perform well and then be all over the place. At first I suspected my muzzle brake. I decided today to re-paint my stock and I go to unscrew the action bolts. Two of them were so loose I could spin the hex key long ways with my fingers. Could this be my huge problem ? Anyone else had a problem with action screws affecting accuracy ?

I am not putting the action together without a torque wrench like I should have done prior.

x2. A buddy of mine has a Remington Sendero and he had the same problem. He finally had to contact HS Precision for the torque spec since the ones Remington gave him didn't help. No problems now.

Loose action screws can *definitely* affect accuracy.

What kind of stock do you have? If it's composite or plastic, or even non-laminate wood, you may think of having it pillar bedded so your torque values actually mean something. If the thing you're torquing against is flexible at all, during any type of contraction (caused by atmospherics of recoil)the screw will back off just a little. Eventually they're on the ground under your rifle.
