New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge
I hadn't seen this posted here yet, but SAAMI added a 6mm Grendel derivative called the 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge or 6mm ARC to their newly accepted cartridges list. 6mm ARC introduction pdf The case looks like the shoulder has been moved back, and the neck is a little shorter as compared...www.snipershide.com
Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts! While 9mm, 308, and 5.56 seem to be filtering back into the supply lines, boutique cartridges seem to be lagging behind. I’m not that hot on adding another problem child to my little stable of misfit chamberings.
Thanksx39 get's my vote. I was in the same boat and did this recently
cheap, plentiful ammo, and just fun round
Probably $2.000 or soWhat kind of budget range were you thinking?
After reading your thoughts and while my wife was away (I'm not afraid of her, but why take the chance), I pulled the trigger on a Craddock Precision 6MM ARC Bartlein barrel. I went with the 18'' 7.25 twist. I also purchased the gas system, brake, straight fluting and mattie black finish. Now while I'm waiting for the 6-8 months, I can let my checking account recover and save for the rest of my build. When the funds become available, I'll be looking at the BAD receivers, forearms and stocks. Also, the JP Low Mass BCG. Plenty of time to think about a trigger.
As always, your thoughts are welcome. I wish for you and your families a safe and blessed Christmas!
Thanks...with a $2K budget it may have been more prudent to just get the complete upper from Craddock as it will come with a performance guarantee. Just my $0.02....
Thanks, I've done that in the past and ended up with ammo without a gun to shoot it in.i dunno, but these days i suppose i would get ammo first, or ensure a supply, before i built a gun to shoot it.
Thank YouDon’t overlook the Timney CE when you decide on a trigger. Have them in all of my precision ARs.
ThanksYou will like the Geissele, it’s a quality trigger. If your a handloader the next thing I would do is look for components. Quality 6mm projectiles are hard to find these days if you looking for the heavier stuff designed for longer ranges.
Hmm, cheap good trigger is Larue Tactical (on my piston 6.8), expensive better trigger is Geissele SD-E (on my piston 6.5 Creedmoor that shoots past 1000).
Sounds nice. I'd loctite that screw once I set my preferred pull weight though. I'll keep that link and try one for my next build.Better cheap trigger.![]()
