an EGW 30moa base instead of the 20moa one that I ordered. The package matches the invoice with the correct part #, but the actual base inside the packaging shows a 30moa and is stamped underneath accordingly. It's going on a 700 SPS Tac .308 ~ is it necessary for me to return it or did I make out? I understand the "higher" base allows for less elevation adjustment on the optic itself, but realistically, at the max, this rifle will only see about 1000yds. What are your thoughts, mount it up or send 'er back for the originally ordered 20moa. By the way, this is the new EGW "HD" version if that makes a difference in your answer. Thanks. Also, for shits and giggles, one of the four screws used to mount the base onto the rifle came out of the box with a cross-threaded screw, so the threads are shot, and all I did was remove it! It came out like a son of a bitch too. Now, I've got to go to the smith tomorrow to get it re-tapped for a different torx screw. Surely, must have been a "Monday" gun over at the big green R - I hope they got the rifling correct..

i'd say that depends on the glass that will be mounted on it and weather or not it has the adj. to handle the unplanned 10moa..

If its a scope with 80+ of adj range, i'd call it good

This probably belongs in the optics section....

You ordered one product and got another. Id send it back and have them give me what I ordered.

Re: So, in the mail today I received.. (Input please)

Mods - feel free to move this into the Optics section if needed.. I just want some feedback with regards to getting the correct 20moa base as I initially ordered, or if there is an advantage for me to keep the mis-packaged 30moa base that came today. It is my understanding that a 20moa base will work great with the SWFA SS 3-9x42 FFP mil/mil scope so far as adjustments and their limits are concerned.

be sure to check the receiver threads. they may not be stripped. I thought I had stripped the threads in mine but the torx srew stripped and the threads were fine. I ordered new torx from Brownells and they went it fine to 20 in/lbs torque.

Thanks, one of the two back holes in the receiver had a bad thread and was spoiling the screws that go into it. The gunsmith re-tapped it today, and now the screw threads in, but it "wobbles" a little bit until it engages the 3rd or 4th thread, then it seems to be fine. He busted off the tap within the hole when he was trying to clean up the thread, so he had to drill that snapped off tap out and re-thread. Hopefully, a little med. blue loctite will hold good for that hole. Maybe I could build up the screw threads with something to make it a little more snug near the top of the hole - any suggestions? I wish Remington would not have sent my rifle out with a poor thread like that - what were they thinking? Once I loctite all four holes with the blue stuff, I think that it should be fine. Not real impressed with the gs who "fixed" my threads today, that screw almost seems to small for the hole until it reaches the 3rd or 4th thread..
