Im new to the site but have been on ar15 forum for a bit. Im going to get into long range shooting. I currently have a tikka t3 in 300 win mag with a nikon monarch 4-16 scope. I was going to build a rifle but decided to get good glass first and then build the rifle later. Im looking for something that will shoot out to 1,000 yards and will use it for hunting. I have been looking at bushnell 3.5-21 hdmr, swfa 5-20 and a nightforce 5.5-22x56. Used is fineas i started looking at 600$ scopes and now went up to 1200-1300$ price range. Id rather pay and get what i want. Im working on a deal now for a used nightforce 5.5-22x56 with npr2 illuminated reticle. Which is better between the above? Thanks

Sounds like you're on the right track for your price range. I would try getting behind them and see which one fits you best. Any of those you buy, you could turn around and sell for a small loss , if you decided that you wanted try something else.

I have it down to the bushnell hdmr and the nightforce. Will make a decision shortly. I like the power variance of the bushnell but night force is proven and trusted.

If you are already willing to spend the 12-1300 on the Bushnell HDMR you should seriously consider adding another 300 for the Bushnell ERS. I would advise talking to Mike at CSTactical (you can find him on here) as hes got some of the best pricing that I've found.

Either way I think you will be happy with the Bushnell purchase. I shot a match this past weekend with the HDMR and had no problems with it at all.

I sold all my NF 5.5-22's(SFP) and replaced them with HDMR's(FFP) when they first came out. Never a problem and they were a great value but were just missing a few features I needed. I use S&B now but have never regretted owning those 3 HDMR's and I still consider them the best value for the money.

Ended up deciding on the bushnell, it comes with a larue mount and is from a member on here. Thanks for the replys. The mag range and FFP swayed me towards it.
