My little yappy dog wasn’t interested at all. Lol. Just smelled it and walked away.

Coyotes eat watermelons so it doesn't surprise me your dog likes them. My buddy and his family farm watermelons. He picks several a year off in the fields. They say the yotes will roll them away from the field then crack them open somewhere they feel safer. They find broken melons all over the place.
