So whats you plan, for when the grid an/or net drops?

People are meat. Just saying.

After about five days your neighbors will come by asking for their share of your food, a warm bed or use of your vehicles. Everytime you start your generator you will risk attack by the dregs. At some point you'll have to kill a few.

If you call the cops, they are just as likely to loot you for guns, ammo and supplies as help. Probably arrest you for whatever and just shoot you later.

We are probably good for six weeks with minimal help. If its widespread the government will fail. Once the govt fails, Mad Max rules apply.

It would be interesting on who would fare better urban or sub urban , i think the city people would tend to only care about themselves with no plan for the long haul [pretty much how they have lived] where the lakeside community would fare much better if they could organize and make the right decisions .
Don’t know about urban vs sub urban, but rural for the win. The skillset we’ve acquired over the years is not something people learn overnight. Had a friend that was talking to some inner city kids once. They were blown away when he told them milk comes from a cow. They insisted that it comes from a jug in the store. True story! He couldn’t make them believe that a person has to milk a cow to get a jug of milk.

The words location location location will never have rung so clear as to determine your fate ,rural really does not factor in the long run because they lack the numbers necessary imho to keep their little 'islands" .

Laughing at some of this. But some are right most will not live to see the end of the first two weeks. For that matter some will not live until sundown of the day some realize the ROL is out the window, as most know who in their hood is a piece of shit and on their list. Action always trumps reaction, besides after the first one, the rest are free.

I don’t have to wonder, it would be a shit sandwich for all. Think Wild West but worse and it would suck big time until enough people said screw all this mess and the violence and attitude and decided to become civilized again.

Selco pointed out that his town went from a modern European city to total anarchy in three weeks. Some people had country houses where they would have faired much better, but could not get out of town in time. He highly recommended that your house or building look very unattractive.

Ideally have a dead animal or dead person by the front porch, Selco stated that even the worst gangs did not want to enter such a building to examine what was there. Catch rainwater, camouflage any vegetable garden. Stored foods were important, and do not do outdoor cooking where others can smell the BBQ, etc.

Snipers were shooting anyone they could find during the day, so everything had to be done at night without lights. Their house had 10 people in it, and there was always someone standing watch. To barter, go at night, and be very careful who you see. Hide everything, and be ready to shoot if someone tries to jump you. Modern medicines were very valuable.

yea at close to 80 i doubt my utility. i do have extensive health system experience so maybe. you are right in building a med holding for anyone old and on meds. finding them in a trashed pharmacy is possible. narcs would be gone but DM and HTN meds likely survive a looting. antibiotics will matter but shelf life and guessing the right one at the time would take some knowledge with no labs. that knowledge i do have.
Everyone got something to offer. I’ll protect my elders just as much as my young people. I never figured you for nearly 80! If nothing else you can be the elder that helps weed out the asshats aKA anyone that’s going to harm or take advantage of an old man (said with all due respect), has no place in my society.

Anybody mention pharmaceuticals yet? I hear folks regularly discussing their plans for the big one and it’s the rare exception that anyone thinks of the cocktail of pills they need to stay alive. And then you have the meds that need to be temp controlled/refrigerated…
This is the only hole in my preps , I've looked into it a little and you can buy stuff online ,my concern is are these online drugs legit or scams. 20 yrs ago you could cross the border into Mexico and get anything you wanted, but now it might cost your life, plus once you get back in the US the aholes at the check points might not let you keep your stash.

i don't know if the laws have changed but vet supply is the place to go if you have a brick and mortar close. on line fake? worrisome question. investigating a good idea. but where? on line? hard to know truth of any on line review of anything.

This is a bigger issue than most what to except. Not only with scrips but basic medical for even first aid. A simple infection in that venue could turn into a death sentence real quick. One of the reasons most stock to basic surgery levels. Having a Dr, DVM, DDS, ect is a very valuable group asset skillset.

Fortunately I don't take any medication on a regular basis, but some antibiotics and presidone would be nice to have on hand , of course as I get older that might change, I do have a good 1st aid kit and trauma kit that has good tourniquet and stop bleeding bandages, it's a start that I need to improve on , would love to have AED but damn those are expensive.

If you think the numbers game associated with urban is good then just wait. The urban hoards are going to be hungry within 24 hours and people start doing crazy things when they get hungry and thirsty. I’ll take my rural hangout and group of well vetted friends, thank you very much.

Well,... As bad as I hate to say it, if you know where they hang in public now if/when it goes to shit,..most won't give them a second thought. As food/water an such will be their main focus. Here they are in most all gyms/exc clubs w/one having 4 of them. Knowing where the high end stuff is, that most won't care about, might help. Growing your groups diversity is king as many tools & sometimes specialized stores come with each skill-set.

Don’t sleep on the inner city yoots. They already have groups, and in many places many of them have more bodies to their name than the vast majority of people. That includes the veteran community, lol.
They have only been allowed to suck air this long do to the so called ROL. If & when that goes away, those being self restrained now won't be. And those hood rats might find that group has the ability play tag well above their level as well.
