So whats you plan, for when the grid an/or net drops?

I have a solar well, solar transfer pump, 1000 gallons of storage on surface.
I am 100% solar but we do have propane backup generator. If need be, we could do without the back up.
I have what I figure is enough ammo to last me the rest of my life and still leave some (unless I know I'm going, fuck those guys, I'm shooting all of it)
We have about 2 years of food stored, depends some on when or if we decide to ration deeper.
Garden, creeks, ponds, game. Domesticated critters are soon to join us.
I have no illusions. It's just this one old warrior, an old lady and a few good dogs.
One of my last acts will be to make it non usable for anyone that comes after us. They will likely take me out but there won't be many spoils left for the victor. 1 round into the solar charge controller, one round into the well pump, mag dump the storage tank. Pour the rubbing alcohol on the floor and fuck those guys. I'll try to leave them a shit in the freezer, too.

A funny thing happened during Covid. All the rural dwellers around me went full blown prepper. At least, as full blown as they could afford. They started getting to know each other better, and talking openly and often about the possible SHTF scenario. To them, the enemy would come from outside the area when all the urban/suburban dwellers discover that things like water would eventually require electricity.
If your a rural dweller, you're likely a prepper to some extent. For no other reason than you just don't like to make that trip into town whenever you need something. And, if you have my luck, Sunday is the day a tire will go flat or something will break, and nothing is open that you need to be open. So, it's not that much of a stretch to go from part-time prepper to full-blown prepper. We did it during Covid. We stockpiled supplies, expanded the garden, and doubled-up on the canning. It was good practice.
Strangely enough, it was my wife who suggested that we go full solar. And, I mean FULL solar. Though, my wife definitely works her share in the garden and around the place, this is Texas, and she isn't about to do without air conditioning. Or, TV or internet, or, without water. It takes electricity to run the water wells. So, her magic question to me was can we build a solar system that can reliably run it all? And, not just short term. We are talking from this day forward. My diesel generator suddenly looked inadequate for the job.
So, after recruiting our son (who happens to be a master electrician) and depleting our bank account over 25k, we went full tilt solar. Yeah, we saved a bundle of money doing it ourselves, but it will still take 8 years or so for it to pay for itself. But, that system provides more than electricity. Everything on the place that we need to survive depends upon electricity. Once I realized the electric meter wasn't moving after the first thunderstorm knocked out power in the area, and the lights were still on, it was one hell of a secure feeling. Now, this was more than just going "off grid" to be independent. This was going full-blown prepper. And, if you think about it, the number one thing you will need the most of to survive is water. And, out here, the only way to get it on the scale you will need long term is by using electricity. (Of course, guns and ammo will be a necessity, but that goes without saying.)
I also had a taste of what it might be like to deal with desperate people back when hurricane Katrina ravaged the Louisiana and Texas coast. It seemed like SE Texas and the whole state of Louisiana came to my area. The local motels, parks, and RV parks were full. A friend in county government called me and asked if I could host a handful of RVers who had nowhere else to go. I decided that since they weren't empty-handed, and had their own living quarters, I was willing to give it a shot. They were here a little more than a week. But, what started out as five families grew to eight. I put them down at my shop where there was electricity. But, when those last three RVs showed up, the power and water grew limited. They handled it themselves. Some of their rigs had working generators, and they rationed the water. But, they had to make many trips to town for gas and supplies, and the local store shelves were looking a bit thin. However, they did make it through it all, and were able to go back home. They offered to pay me, but I couldn't take it. Throughout all of this though, most of the women and children weren't happy. And, the patience of a couple of the men were growing thin. I don't know what would have happened if their ordeal had lasted any longer.
When was your last flood?
Considered building a reinforced berm 15 ft high around the buildings. Looks like 5 ft flood would drive you out
Remember you can always supplement its fuel supply via electrical transformer cooling oil. The average can hanging on your power pole has about 4-5 gallon of mineral oil that you can mix 50/50 with your diesel and it will run just fine. Many other concoctions of mineral oil + engine, ATF cooking oil can be used as will.
Just curious for the people that travel for work, say out of state. Everyone thinks that the grid will go down while you're at the house. That will not be the case. Say you are four hours by car from the house, now what?
You have many options, just think out of the box. I always carry a get home, event, bag no matter the distance. If I can't walk home before sundown another bag goes, with a bike chained in the truck. If your talking unknown places to you,... always & I mean always,... know here N/G & military units are located, for many reasons. Hydration ability, food, weather, & bang are at the top of the list. Plan on night only travel, so be equipped or learn to operate in that venue. Just remember your kit will look like a Walmart in a few short days, so be prepared to protect what you have. You'll have 2-3 days before shit really starts to get side ways, make the most of it.
When SHTAC (shit hits the air compressor) I have tactical solar panels, tactical food, tactical water bottles, and tactical heating and cooling systems, so I'm GTG in my AO! I have also have a tactical bike should an EMP strike my AO during SHTAC situtation!

I'm on a high hill. A flood would cut me off from access to town, but that's the whole idea of being prepared.
That's good to know. But, in a real SHTF scenario, those tricks will only last so long.
That’s the thing with most preps. While some people strive to have a lifetime supply the goal for most should probably be to have 6 months worth. That gives you time to wait out the worst of the unrest and also time to figure out a long term plan. A long term plan is paramount.
We have enough long term storage food to last us about a yr. Our well is a 24” dug well so all that is needed is a bucket and rope to access water. Have a creek and pond also. Over the last several years we have been incrementally growing our own food both produce/fruit and animals. If managed correctly that would carry us perpetually.
As always the issue is those who do not have and shit birds that take you out with a 22 to the head from the bushes 100yds away while your tending animals. As such in life nothing is ever 100% guaranteed and you’ll drive yourself mad trying to make it so.
Knowing what & how will save many, and stuff like that just may get them over the hump.
Thinking everyone is out to get you in that venue is logical thinking, but like many things in life it all my not go as planned for many. One of the reasons many groups are coming together & counting/depending on each other all across this country. There will be a huge wake up call for all who think they will just take want they need,... as well as those who think they are and island.
No one is secure in their person being alone, with others seeking life saving stores.
