Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

Re: Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

That's Bullshit-Captain Myer was only playing the cards he was dealt with by the policies and strategy of those above him all the way to the Pentagon and State Dept(because I'm sure they meddled somehow to keep the base open conspiring with Karzi)

Re: Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

Lets not pretend to know what went on before the attack. If duties were neglected because of the closing of the base in the near future, and that lead to more US casualties, then I'm all for reprimand. However, if he was put in an impossible situation, and then became the fall guy....then that's bullshit.

But like I said...we don't know what was going on before the attack.

Re: Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

it comes back to american support being in the toilet, and they want someone to blame for the death of their loved ones, seen it time and time again, people want someone to hang because they lost someone in the fight. it was upsetting, but whose fault was it, did the CPT put the outpost in a low point in a valley, i think not. how bout find the douche wagon that decided to put those bases where they are. they were shutting it down how was it his fault to prepare, im sure they already sent out and advon to whereever they were relocating too, as well as having to have people disassemble the base. which means they were probably running skeleton crews in the final days. when a col tells a cpt to pull out what other choice is he left with?

Re: Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

Yeah, I don't know any more than this article alludes to, but I'm of the opinion that he's probably a fall guy for some higher-up that doesn't have the balls to take responsibility. If the Cpt. was at fault for something then he was at fault; if he was a hero then he's a hero. I just cant wrap my mind around the fact that they'd put him in for the third highest commendation if he was in fact in the wrong in one way or another. Sounds fishy enough to make me want to believe that he's being made a patsy.

I'd like to know more, like, what preparations exactly were not made? Why were they not made? Exactly who's decision was it? In almost every job I've ever had, at some point or another, I've been handed a shit sandwich and been told to produce results. It happens all the time in the oil field when some engineer makes us do the stupidest shit. After we try to talk them out of the stupid, we argue, plead, and finally do what we're told, we are the ones who have to answer the question, "why did the well go to shit?"

Re: Soldier awarded and punished in same battle?

Captains are expendable as are troops, or as we have heard some generals referring to them say,"Chihuahua's" are the least of their worries. The bigger picture just blurs where they are and when one goes even further out they just blend into nothingness. Some people just don't know who is listening or walking by when they open their mouthes and talk smack. Pompous asshats, all
