SALT LAKE CITY — Police served a series of search warrants Tuesday night and Wednesday that led to the seizure of drugs, drug precursors and the recovery of stolen rare coins.
Investigators served a warrant at a business near 4300 S. Main about 11:30 p.m. Inside, detectives found chemicals that could be used to set up a meth lab as well as rare coins believed to have been stolen from a Salt Lake residence in July.
Information collected at that bust led officers to a second location, a residence near 5200 South and 600 West, where more items connected to the coin burglary were found, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Shawn Josephson.
Evidence collected at that scene led detectives and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to a third location near 5400 South and 800 East, where additional items were found in two storage sheds, he said.
Recovered from the search warrants were gold $1 coins, a book of silver dollars, buffalo nickels, a firearm, silencer, marijuana cultivation equipment, a large quantity of marijuana and a large suitcase of ephedrine, Josephson said.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
