I have a 23 inch stock barrel R 700 in .223. Anyways I have a variety of rounds I could use, Bergers, V Maxs, Sierra Match in several weights. I was out and had mounted a new scope on this Remy, this is my yote gun, originally Walmart special no bottom metal - budget slow build. I got a take off Hogue and bottom metal like new, fixed the spacer to fit for the .223 (5.56...) put a Larue rail on it, Brownells rings Weaver scope 4 x 16.

So I have all these good - read expensive bullets. Now for my gas gun, my sorta local smith during the great bullet drought was selling these 55 grain psp (pointed soft points) by the 100's from a big box. They have a cannelure and I bought a few hundred for my a/r. Anyways with all these carefully built rounds - measured, checked for oal, L/C brass or even some Lappua brass, bullets from Berger, Sierra, Nosler and these basic junk rounds for sighters. Anyways first 3 rounds of these 55 psp's clovers at 50 yards. Make my adjustments and go back to 100, clovers 3. Fire 3 from the series of builds, Nosler 40's, Nosler 50's, Sierra Match 53's, Sierra 45's, Berger 52's and I am getting 1-1.5 out of them. But go back to the 55's and they stack up at 100! 25 grains of CFE 223, looks a little light for the charge, but the results are in the target. I am fine with that for yotes and varmints. I am glad I got a bunch of this stuff to run rather than spending the dollars for the better bullets. I have other .223/5.56 and I know many here like to drive the heavies 69 grains and above, but this barrel is a fast twist and built for carrying in the nasty weather and waiting on that yote to show. I think it will do. I am happy about the inexpensive rounds doing their job quite well and the 55 will be a little better in the breeze.

I was in a 10 - 13 mile an hour tail wind at 100 degrees and at 5000 feet, so for right now, I am happy with that one....now I ain't going to talk about the other rifle........
