Thats not really fair. While the Spartans did defeat the Persians at Thermopolaye, it was the Athenian navy which put the final blow to them. The SPARTANS were valiant warriors. the Athenians builders and philosophers. Neither alone is worth much.
But you are correct in that the ancient Greek soldier is not the best choice to illustrate in this instance.

The rest are kind of garbled. Wisdom never gets in the way of anything, nor does seeking it. In fact, not seeking wisdom lead to most, if not all, of our problems. What gets in the way is pride and arrogance, and an unwillingness to humble oneself before the truth.
