Rifle Scopes space between scope and barrel?

I am not sure where to post this, but since it had to do with mounting a stop I picked here.

Is there a set minimum space between the barrel and scope? I have about .025 using feeler gauge between the barrel and lens cap, and about .065-.066 without the lens cap. Is that enough space? This is on a 338 Lapua.

I thought the same thing but I want to double check. I am dealing with a 338 Lapua and a Nightforce scope, I don't want any errors.

Some say as long as they dont touch theyre ok, but i had a nf mounted about the space of 2 sheets of paper, when i took the scope off after being shot several times i had rub marks, where the barrel and objective met. This was with a badger base and badger rings
