What can you say after seeing this?......Seriously? </div></div>

I think I'll try this with my FAL only the ice will be too soft for such a large caliber so Ill try this on concrete.

Thanks for the idea.

Re: Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

That's a pretty neat video.. I like how the tough guys says he don't care if he gets it with a bullet.. I'm sure he would of thought differently if one hit him.. Douchebag..

One way to weed out the undesireables in life, give them a video camera and a gun.. lol

That is one way to do it.

Re: Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

Someone check my math but....
40 S&w
twist rate = 1 turn in 16 inches
velocity = 1,050 (round down to 1,000 fps or 60,000 fpm)

In 60,000 feet of travel (1 min) a .40 will revolve 3,750 times. or 62 revolutions per second.

Does that look like 3,700 rpm?

Re: Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

I are not an Injuneer... but I get the following:

Glock Twist rate 1:16”

Assumed Nominal Velocity of .40 is c. 1000 fps .

12 inches per foot x 1000 feet per second = bullet travel rate of 12,000 inches per second

Times 60 seconds per minute = bullet speed of 720,000 inches per minute

Divided by 1 revolution every 16 inches = 45000 Revolutions per minute at muzzle?

Then again, it's late, I had a long day and I suck at math.

Cheers,

Sirhr

PS: Found this formula online and it gives me the same number:

MV x (12/twist rate in inches) x 60 = Bullet RPM

For the .40 at 1000 FPM in a Glock this also seems to add up to 45000 RPM

Re: Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

I'm calling bullshit on the bullets spinning vid.
WHY is the bullet intact & not shrooomed or petaled or fragged to pieces on ( Impact ) ?
Is it Not impacting frozen water ? are pistol Cal. Bullets Not Made of a thin copper jacket with Lead core ?
.
a lot of pretty math to verify spin-rate but you guys left out ft/lbs. energy @ impact of bullet on Hard frozen surface .
.
Hey maybe you guys believe multiple Cell Phone antenna transmitting energy emitted can pop Popcorn Kernels too ?
.

I've dug 230gr FMJ's from my 45acp out of a tree stump that looked like they could be fired again. FMJ's aren't that easily fragmented or mushroomed.

Re: Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

I still got to call BS on the Vid. .
man I have dug my share of .45 out of dirt berm, sand, wood & so on. No way in hell is that bullet NOT going to have a <span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="font-weight: bold">'@ minimum'</span></span>, ( if it is FMJ ) a nice sized flat spot from impact on Ice .
.

How about a video of you shooting your imaginary .499 LWR. </div></div>

i would enjoy a video of you eating a ,45 FMJ at 900 FPS
