Re: spotting scope advice

I just picked up a Vortex spotter from Doug at cameralandny.

Great service and company to deal with, and a great spotting scope!

For what use?
In what price range?

Re: spotting scope advice

Pentax 80mm with 20-60x Zoom.

I got it through Doug, Hide Sponsor, for a great price. A few years later I purchased a new Manfrotto 055 XPro tripod with a gear head.

A few months ago I got to compare it against a Vortex Razor.

The difference in Quality optics is $250 per step. Spend $250 more, get more.

I really like my Pentax and the only complaint I have is the focus is a little touchy. Optically for shooting, the Pentax is fantastic. Now that I have seen the Vortex Razor, I wish I had spent a little more and gotten it.

The Manfrotto 055 XPro with gear head is fantastic! I got it on sale for about $270 and that is worth every penny. Do not get cheap on a tripod.

I considered the Bushnell Elite. I have a few Bushnell Elite rifle scopes and find them a tremendous value.

Spend once, cry once!

The Manfrotto 055 XPro is the head?

I have a great carbon fiber tri pod, but no head. I want a good one that isn't to heavy or big.
