ran a search and didn't find too much. looking for a spotting scope for both spotting shots and hunting. what you guys using and what would you recommend? From what I read about the Leica and Swarovski, people really like them. I'm willing to spent the money for good equipment and want to hear what everyone likes.

Here's a Pic threw a Bushnell Excursion 15-45x60 a little further
than a grand. I was watching 2 bucks last weekend around 2000yds I could count the points with no problem.

You looking for the bench or field use? If its for the bench get a Konus 20-60x100mm This thing is SUPER clear. My range officer likes it better than his Kowa 82 and at 1/3 the cost!!
The one big drawback is that it weighs a TON. you need a real sturdy tripod for this one.
No the eye relief isn't as long as a Kowa, and its way way heavier, probably not as strong either, but the glass is just as good if not better. Also $300+ VS $1000 for the Kowa no contest!

Plenty of choices depending on budget, weight requirements, optics standards, etc.

I use a Swarovski 65 ATS with fixed 30x wide angle and use it for high-power, hunting, and photography.

Even though I use it a lot, $2k is a LOT of dough to put on a scope. I think the Kowa scopes are the best value out there. For less than $1k, you can get 99% as good of a scope.

Once you go below $500, you are getting a noticeably inferior product, compared to the high-end. I think the sweet spot is around $600 to $1k where you get the most bang for the buck.

PS. check out the bird-watching forums for tons of binocular and spotting scope reviews. They are the most discriminating buyers for sure...that's all they do is use that glass.

Hi, I hope not to take away from the OP, but how well is the Leupold Golden Ring 15-30x50mm?

Found out today that I could use a spotting scope.....

Thanks,

The Kowa 20X60X88 is the best that I have used. I sold my Swarovski 20X60X80 and kept the Kowa

I don't think that David Tubbs would be useing Kowa, if they weren't at the top of the heap
