I have been trying to find information on what teams have been using for spotting scopes for the SAC and Mammoth races. I have searched and only found a scant bit of info that some teams on the more shooting heavy Mammoth have brought a spotter, but from the gear list online for SAC it seems that gear is often neglected, and some teams don't even seem to bring binos. Is the spotting for SAC done with the carbine scope, LRF or what am I missing?

Most just carry small binos,

Very few carry spotters, too heavy and too slow to set up.

Binos are best, others do use their rifles to spot, it's economy of motion thing, less is better in a gut check match.

Plus if you shoot correctly, you can spot for yourself most of the time.

Pass on the spotter. Bring good binos, we use Leica HD-Bs with a laser to keep it all together. If you need more magnification, you have a riflescope.. Also, unless there's a specific stage that needs the extra eyes or there's a weird condition, we run fairly independent and let the teammate work on other tasks while one is shooting.
